Q: Will the MOTOMASTER NAUTILUS AGM Group Size 31 Battery fit into this large size battery box?

A: When I was shopping for marine batteries, I sent the dimensions of this case to a battery company. I wanted know what max battery size would fit in this box. Their response was "The battery box mentioned in your email will fit up to a 27 size battery" So I bought a size 27 from them. I use it with my trolling motor. From what I know, battery sizes are standardized but you should double check this.

Q: What is inner dimensions of BOTH boxes? There are 2 different boxes available - one is 14" long and one is 17" long, could you please give the inner dimensions for BOTH boxes? (All of the previous answers only give the answer for ONE of the boxes.)

A: I just purchased the large (17") box. I measure the inner bottom dimensions to be 13.25"long x 7.5" wide x 8.75" high. Although the sticker says it is intended for a Group 27 battery, my Group 31 battery DOES fit inside -- very happy!

Q: Is this battery box suitable for marine use? Looking for a battery box for my fishing boat. I have an electric trolling motor on an open aluminum boat.

A: Attwood battery boxes are designed and built for use in the marine industry. Our battery boxes are vented and are sold with a batter strap that includes the 2 hold downs the strap and 4 screws that can be used to adhere the battery strap to say a piece of plywood that can be set in the rear of the aluminum boat. I just did the exact thing with my 14 ft aluminum fishing boat. The plastic box protects the battery from damage and also the possibility of spilling acid inside the boat.
