Perfect fit - you need to take paint off blade

These fit perfect as they should and there were some reviews about sharpness. Replacement blades are coated with a thick paint so the blade sections themselves are rounded a little from that. I assume it is a safety thing for handling and shipping. You take a file and grind the paint off for a few seconds and then mount them and they are nice and sharp and work perfectly. Some people do not realize this and think they are bolt on and go.

Both blades were identical and were a good fit for my 25 year old Craftsman lawn tractor. I just wish they were sharper, I eventually took them off and sharpenned then myself. Perhaps i should have thought about that before putting them on.

Not much to say, really. This is my 2nd set, first ones didn't survive playing pinball with a baseball sized rock. They aren't anything special, quality wise, but they work fine. There aren't a lot of options in-stores for 42" mulching blades with 5-point star holes anyways, and these aren't horribly expensive. My only reason for dropping a point is that they (along with most blades, for some reason) don't come sharpened. I know you don't need them razor sharp, but these look like a set that has been used for 1-2 years without sharpening. This is especially annoying due to the shape of mulching blades, as they are harder to grind. I recommend a flap disc on an angle grinder, and make sure to check the balance as you go.

A: Sorry. Don't know. I suggest you take the old.one off and compare it. Make sure the hole for the bolt is correct.

Q: Can these blades be used individually in a 21 inch hand mower? 21 inch blades with that 5 point centre are hard to find.

A: yes as long as your mower calls for a twenty one inch blade, but be careful some blades are five star and some are six. Its easy not to see the difference and a little up setting after you get home and can't finish your chore

A: Thank you for your question. We coat the replacement lawn mower blades with a protective paint. They are pre-sharpened and the cutting edge will be exposed shortly after beginning to mow. You do not need to sharpen them before use.
