    Works to seal hole

I purchased this product to seal a few holes in my shingled roof. The product worked fine for that purpose. The only issue is it likes to dry up when stored. I recommend you purchase just as much as you need with the idea the rest will probably be of no value further down the road.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Good product

Has a very even consistency, similar to bondo, and I suggest using a bondo applicator (and gloves). Don't try to use it in the wet, it won't stick, but if you apply it to a dry roof, it works very well. Perfect for filling cracks and sealing seams. A quick tip, work it back and forth. If you smear it on right to left, make sure you also smear it left to right to prevent voids and ensure complete coverage.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Doesn't stick to wet shingles

I don't know for sure, but this may be a fine product to use on a hot, dry summer's rooftop - But what I know for sure is that it's completely useless on a cool, damp fall shingle. This stuff is so thick you could sculpt it like clay... and I could not get it to stick to a damp shingle at all. 5 minutes with a 2.5 inch putty knife and I could not get it to stick to the shingles no matter how I spread it. I returned it and bought the [Rust-Oleum Epoxy Shield Roof Repair]... BRUSH GRADE! I still needed a putty knife (No idea how they think a brush could spread that stuff) but it was a lot softer and spread nice & stuck to the damp shingles. I was sealing the edges of shingles on an old roof that was almost flat and water was backing up under the shingles... so I like that it was thinner because after applying it, it would "ooze" down and smooth out just a bit which also helped it to get into the last bit of cracks that the putty knife might not have pushed it into.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Can you apply this product with a brush?

    2 Answers
    • A: Absolutely not. You'll need a putty knife - it's very thick. Even the Brush-Grade Rust-Oleum Epoxy Shield Roof Repair that I've used (& really like) is too thick for a brush in my opinion - but at least it's a lot closer.

Q: I have some left from a different job....wondering if this would be suitable to use on the roof of my RV for sealing little cracks/preventive maintenance?

    1 Answer
    • A: The answer is yes but because RV roofs are usually flat and can have ponding water, the product will work but it won’t be a permanent solution. The only thing we truly recommend for flat roofs, is silicone.

Q: Can this product be applied to horizontal chimney plate which is rusted metal sheet?

    1 Answer
    • A: It is always best to replace any rusted metal before finalizing a repair. We also don’t know the size of the area that is being fixed. The product is known to adhere well to metal and make a repair depending on these other factors. It can also be used horizontally for chimneys.

Q: What color is the dried product? Are different colours available?

    1 Answer
    • A: The product dries to a black colour. There are no other colours available as it is an asphalt based product.

Q: Is this Paintable and if so, with what type of paint ?

    1 Answer
    • A: It can be painted. It must be allowed to dry and cure which takes about 30 days in the summer. After this period, it may be painted with an acrylic roof coating
