I had no idea how well this product worked because I have never seen 1 in use before untill last weekend,my friend bought 1 at Canadian Tire & we went out to his hut on Haviland Bay.He set it up & I was amazed at the clarity & detail we could see on even smelts,I have to admitt in feels a little like cheating but the results are the same"FISH ON"

    Good Value

Got this for my birthday. It's not one of the high end fish cams but I find it's great for still fishing. I will try to adapt it so I can hook it up to a down rigger. I will also try to set it up so I can attach my bait to the camera using a down rigger release. So far I've only used it in the Ottawa River and I find visibility to be at about 6 feet. Pretty impressive, that was in 15 to 25 feet of water with no infra red at mid day. I had a couple of kids onboard and they were pretty amazed at the views. This weekend I have my son in law who use to scuba dive but cant anymore because of an accident. I am planning to do a drift with it to mimic a drift dive. The trick is to keep the camera off the bottom to avoid silt being stirred up. But even when that happens because of the current it cleared up pretty fast. I love this thing

    better than nothing

I find this a bit of a pain as the water currents move the camera around and unless you use it in crystal clear water, you tend to pick up all the silt in front of the lense especially with the built in lighting.. I was hopeing to watch the fish nibble at the bait, and the best way to do that is to mount the camera on a stiff pole and point it at your hook but it has to be very close and no way to connect it to camcorder. the only thing its good for is to have a look for damage under the boat or engine.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: what speed can it be troled at If I use it for troling will it void the warrenty? How large is the viewing angle/distance from the cammera. Does it have a mounting device to mount to the boat? Does the monitor come with any cover or is it water tight?

    1 Answer
    • A: The cameras viewing direction would be uncontrollable during a troll. It hangs at the end of a cable. Haven't seen anything aftermarket that would allow mounting to the boat. Viewing angle and distance is dependant on water clarity. The device is really intended for still fishing and ice fishing is the ideal application. Checking out structure is what most people use it for. Watching the fish attack your lure while ice fishing is fun. The unit is water resistant and does come with a cover that shades the monitor from the sun.
