Should have used ball valves first

Got them to replace valves in kitchen old ones were seizing up and would not close. New dishwasher so I replaced all 3 of them. Ball valves do not usually seize up. Time will tell.

Q: Should the valve be opened or closed while soldering?

A: Always open, you need to provide a way for the heat to dissipate, some ballvalves also have Teflon lining inside and it if is over heated this is render the ball valve useless. It also helps to open a fixture in the home again for heat dissipation.
