Air Hogs Remote Control DR1 Micro Race Drone

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am not sure who was more excited about the Micro Race Drone - myself, my husband, or my 9 year old son. I think the squeals of delight make my son the winner! First, I really like the way this was packaged - very secure, yet I didn't need any tools or even scissors. A very good first impression. Set up is pretty easy and self explanatory, but I did have to read the directions a little. NOTE: The package does NOT include needed 2 AAA batteries, which I wish it had. We also had to charge the drone for some time, so it was a game of patience. I am older and therefore used to much simpler game controls, so this one was a little confusing and I felt very uncoordinated. I tried flying it and it did not go so well for me. Once, it ended up on top of one our our very high bookshelves. And it is currently stuck behind our tv right now. If I can learn how to control it better, I think it would be a lot of fun. And, it's very fast! My son also tried to fly it, and was not able to do so very well. It kind of flops about and doesn't make sense how it flies. I was frustrated with it because none of us could fly it well, although my husband did a much better job than I. It was also hard to get it started, even with the auto mode. My son asked me to mention that the battery life was very short, which is true. We could fly it for only a few minutes at a time, before the battery starting to die. Overall, I think with some practice, this will be a lot of fun to play with, especially in an open field.

This drone has two settings one that is for beginners and then once you get the hang of things you can switch to the advanced mode. Both my kids (ages 10&8) have also enjoyed flying this drone. I would highly recommend giving this a try.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What a fun little toy, I have to admit based in the pictures I thought it would be larger in size. It is crazy fast!!! It also appears to me there is s few second delay that would be fine outdoors, but inside, it ends up hitting ceiling before we can get control. We live in northern MN so we have Lake Superior winds that this lil guy can't handle outside right now.. But I can't wait try try her in the summer outside!!! I thought it was going to be my teenage nephews that would repond to my discussion of this drone, turns out my 62 year old Mother wanted to play before the nephews!!! Great fun!! My dog hates it like the vacuum... We'll work on it,.. Overall a great product um my mind, could zero in on the delay upon launch in beginner mode...Once she launches she's wild for about 3 sec... To my ceiling or wall... Lol Going to keep working on our skills..

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son got the Micro Race Drone with Flight Assist Technology, right after hurricane Irma hit us. This toy was heaven sent. After spending days in the dark with no power, we were thrilled to find out that this toy was already charged and ready to go, straight out of the package. We did have to put 2 AAA batteries in the remote control, but we were pretty well stocked in that department (given our circumstances). My 9 year old was over the moon, from the second it "took off". While it took a bit of getting used to, he was quickly flying this like a pro. We both love how small it is. You can literally take it anywhere. He did have one incident where it hit his leg at full speed and he kind of freaked out (he said it hurt a bit). He was a little shy about getting close to it after that, but soon he was right back at it. It also gravitates towards the ceiling, which is actually kind of funny when it gets stuck up there. My son loves playing with this and we learned that it charges very quickly with the provided USB cord. My son also rammed it into the walls MANY times and it has kept on working. This would make a great gift for any kid. It takes up so little space, its easy to use and its loads of fun!
