Kyle "I don't care" The drone seems to fly well its biggest issue is short battery life. It would be better if it had a switchable battery so you could have multiple charged to fly other wise you can only fly for 4 minutes at most before having to recharge.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Fun for the Whole Family

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Everyone was excited to get our New Drone - always something fun for the boys of all ages. With the edition of VR headset all the boys were excited. Boys had not problem controlling the drone by itself but when wearing the VR headset it was difficult. So to make it work and us all have fun, someone would control drone and someone else would wear VR headset and watch were it would go - seem to make everyone happy. So far happy with battery life and construction of drone since we havent broken it yet.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Sturdy, lightweight and fun to fly

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] All the boys in our family (including the grown-up one) were super excited about our new Drone toy. With a cool look, it's compact, lightweight , and therefore easy to carry around. I'm impressed by how sturdy the drone is. It has survived sudden drops or cashes against all kinds of hard surfaces, but still looks fine. The controls are pretty intuitive and easy to master. The First Person Viewing function makes the flying experience a lot more fun now that you can see the world from the drone's point of view. I can't give it a 5 star because there are a few drawbacks that the maker of the toy may want to work on. The biggest problem is the short battery life. After a 90-minute charge, the battery can only last about 7-10 minutes. The charge cord is not standard, so it's important not to lose it. The drone has a tendency to land upside down, which makes it impossible to restart the flight without having to pick up the device manually. And it's fairly easy to lose connectivity. Another problem is with the app, which crashes quite a bit. Overall, the drone is an awesome hi-tech toy for beginners. It is a bit overpriced though, considering all the places that remain to be improved.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great product! Lots of family fun.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The DR1 FPV Race drone comes well packaged in a box that feels substantial but is not awkward to carry due to the handle added, which I thought was a nice touch. I was looking forward to opening the box and getting it charged. While I have flown drones before, this one had the added touch of FPV ( first person view) as well as some additional added features, such as auto takeoff and landing. Upon opening the box I found the drone, controller, headset, an instruction sheet, charger and replacement parts. After it charged I brought it into my living room which has vaulted ceilings and room for error. There is a beginner mode as well as an advanced mode for controlling the drone. I went with the beginner mode to get a good idea of the controls. The drone has auto takeoff and landing. I LOVE this feature. With the push of a button it gently lifts off the ground and hovers until you direct its path. It worked really well and it aided in avoiding some of the awkward crashes that can accompany a new drone when learning the sensitivity of the the controller. The landing was just as great. It was beautiful every time. It would slowly float down and gently alight on the ground every time. There was a slight ( but brief) learning curve in learning the sensitivity but this is to be expected with any new device such as this. In no time I was directing it around my living room with ease. My 9 year old was eager to take it outside and test it for himself. I showed him how it worked and he loved flying it. I will say that it is definitely more difficult for him to fly it and I wouldn't say that he has mastered it. He is, however, under the recommended age of 10+ and I think with more time will come enhanced skills. This is his first experience flying a drone and it is much different than his other RC vehicles and toys. The controls are very sensitive and it wasn't intuitive at first for him to take it slow and apply only light pressure. He misjudged the sensitivity several times and it ended up in trees, bushes and crashed to the ground several times. Every time it crashed I would cringe at the damage I expected to find. There was none at all. This little drone is tough. It has taken a beating and there wasn't even a scratch on it. My three year old also loves the drone. He loves to watch it fly, especially through the headset, and is also able to "fly it" by pushing the auto take off and landing buttons. He feels included in the fun and we it was a great family activity and time spent outdoors. A couple of times when taking off, instead of hovering, the drone would fly horizontally on its own. After consulting the instructions it was very easy to recalibrate it with a touch of a button on the controller. They have really done a great job of making this very easy to fly and enjoy. The headset is very nice and my phone fits very nicely and securely. I did have to take my phone case off to allow it to fit. I found it difficult to control the drone while wearing the headset, but I think someone more experienced might have more luck. It is still a lot of fun as we take turns flying or wearing the headset. It is also a good way to include the person who is not controlling it at that moment. The app was easy to download and had a lot of great features and changeable viewing screens to customize your experience. As an added bonus we were also able to use the headset to watch other 3D/ 360 degree videos that are easily found on the internet. The kids thought that was great and it has provided hours of additional entertainment. All in all, I think this is a great product. I have really enjoyed flying it and find myself drawn to flying it again and again. I would recommend this for older kids and adults and will say this doesn't feel like just a " toy" for kids. It is marketed as such but its features and flying abilities are in line with drones geared toward adults. Great product.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Needs a few tweaks but really fun!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Airhogs DR1 FPV Race Drone is pretty great but could use a few tweaks to make it even better. It was easy enough for my 10 year old to fly and control but it's very difficult to do so while wearing the headset as you can't see the controls and you are relying solely on the drone camera to navigate. We had a tough time flying it outdoors because it's very light and the wind kept blowing it around. We had a lot of fun playing it indoors. My husband flew it while my son wore the headset. They mentioned that they would have liked the camera to tilt all the way down so that they could see below it when flying. The app that you use it really cool. There are different levels of pilot status that you can achieve. The picture is clear and not grainy or blurry at all. The app did drain my cell phone battery rather quickly though. Also it would be nice if the headset was adjustable. It was just a touch big on my 10 yr olds head. It would slip down while he was wearing it. Other than the few minor things I mentioned it's a really great toy. It age appropriate and fairly easy to use. The price is definitely worth what you get. The whole family has had a lot of fun playing with it.

Yes, I recommend this product.
