I change my own oil for my Chevy Malibu and wanted to shorten my required time. I found old filter from the filter cap to be messy as it is snapped in really well, and when I pry these apart, I would spill some oil. Also, removing the old gasket takes time if I needed to find a small screwdriver, and then I would have to clean the filter cap. I wanted a second oil filter cap to have ready before I start, with a new filter and gasket, and allow the old one to drip out overnight, giving time to drain and easier clean up for the next use. The second illustration on the CT website is not correct, whatever this is, this is not a photo of the oil filter cap.
