Terrible do not buy

Bought it as a quick fix till the boot I ordered shows up. Kit was missing a zip tie and the instructions. That was the small part. It’s poorly made and not worth the rags I used to clean my hands with. It’s held on with tabs allowing for water to enter.

i wanted a split boot. Wasted time driving to CT, and getting a part that is not quick to install. I really want the original Dorfman part.

It's a completely different product. It's not the Quick Boot (split). It's just a regular one piece neoprene boot that you have to disassemble the cv joint to install. Better off getting the OEM boot instead of this. Not even worth the drive to CT.

Nothing Quick About This CV Boot

Apparently the split boot is replaced by a stretchable boot (exact same part number) that is supposed to stretch over the CV joint housing, making it fast & easy. Good luck if you don't have the special stretching tool (tried the cone technique but that didn't work). The only way we could get this boot on was to remove the CV joint from the axle shaft and install it the conventional way. 3 hour job. Nothing quick. I don't recommend this product unless you have the Dorman specific tool (# 614-050 -or- # 614-030). By-the-way, using this stretchable boot requires you to separate the CV Joint from the wheel hub (and likely the lower ball joint will have to come out). On a positive note, the boot material is very strong and once installed, looks & performs almost like the OEM boot.

A: Universal boot 015-1908 has an inside diameter of 3.84”. 015-1909 has an inside diameter of 3.31” which may suit your vehicle better. Q: Why is it split in two? I see the rubber slpit in two halves. It should be split once, so you don't have to glue the two halves...only one side! And is that glue I see included in the package? I see two small tubes...I assume is glue!

A: The boot is split in two halves to allow replacement of the boot without removal and disassembly of the CV shaft. Everything required to complete the job is included – grease, clamps & glue.
