Q: Can this fixture be used outdoor? in soffit of house i need to replace my existing fixtures

- A: Technically yes, however any metal recessed can used outside has the potential to rust. We recommend the buying items 52-4857 (90114) because these skus are made from aluminum and are rust-proof. Q: are these retrofit or new construction? and can they be used under insulation? my drywall is up, wires hanging through holes, there is a 4" air gap between the drywall and the insulation

- A: They are remodel not new construction. Our item is actually convertible though, in that it can be used for both remodel and new construction applications. New construction means it has a mounting plate and hanger bars included and can be used when there is no ceiling present. To make it a ready for new construction a customer should buy the accompanying accessory, model number 90121 (52-4865-4)– available at CTC. If there is insulation present, they should be placing our can inside the insulation box, model number 90117 (52-4863-8) – also available at CTC.17 years agoHelpful?
