Q: Are these goggles suitable for working with chemicals? Will they protect eyes from splash damage? Does it seal well enough to prevent gaps?

A: I own a pair of these very goggles. The front of the plastic bag it came in clearly states "chemical splash resistant" and "impact-resistant lens". Also, the rear clearly states: "This product helps protect eyes from chemical splash and impact from certian flying particulates". In other words, these are chemical splash goggles that also provide minimal impact protection from something flying in the air. So it's fine for a work bench, lab bench, or any other situation where you have close proximity to/working with chemicals that can easily splash in your eyes, and certain small objects that could go flying in the air. And considering that 3M has made a significant number of the chemical and chemical based products everyday, I'd trust these goggles when working with chemicals over the Stanley Tool Company's impact only goggles as suggested by Canadian Tire. If I was outside doing yard work or some other project requiring large tools, only then would I trust any tool company's goggles over this 3m pair.

Q: Hi, was just wondering with the 4 hard plastic "buttons" which are inserted into the soft plastic cover that is contact with users face. Are they, vents? Or what is there purpose? Do these goggles offer protection against airborne patogens?
