Disappointing

Just finished compounding my boat. Even after machine buffing this leaves a slight cast color to the fiberglass, repeated buffing will not remove this. Finish looks splotchy. I’d consider re-compounding the entire boat if I thought it would turn out any better.

Perfect for a totally oxidized hull!

I bought a 30ft sailboat that had been neglected for many years. The hull was totally oxidized. I wondered if I shouldn't pass the sandpaper. I tried the 3M. Spectacular result. Very very efficient. I recommend it without any hesitation! This product saved me at least 4 days if not more of sanding.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great product

I own a boat detailing company in MN. 09004 does a great job at cutting trough heavy oxidization, watermarks, and calcium deposits. I get fantastic results and my clients are always in awe at the results. I recommend using a rotary buffer with a wool pad, followed up by the finesse-it Glaze ll (09048).

Yes, I recommend this product.

Pour oxydation importante

Très efficace comme compound lorsque le bateau ou le VR est très oxydé. Idéalement, on met ensuite une couche de glaze (pour lustrer) et une couche de cire (pour protéger).

Q: What kind of rubbing compound would I use on a 1998 ford truck? I tried turtle wax to no avail. Thanks.

  • A: Hi, thank you for your question. We recommed Meguiar’s Ultimate Compound: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/meguiars-ultimate-compound-450-ml-0392809p.html It is a great option for compounding weathered and lightly scuffed automotive paint. Attaching the DA Powersystem to your drill will lower the elbow grease requirement when used with the available maroon pad. Especially with the square footage of a truck. https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/meguiars-da-power-system-tool-0399090p.html If your Ford has darker paint, results will be improved if following up with Meguiar’s Ultimate Liquid Wax and the black foam pad after the previous application of compound. You can then protect the surface by applying Meguiar’s Ultimate Liquid Wax using the yellow pad and removing the residue with a clean microfibre cloth.

Q: Can this product be used on automobiles and trucks?

1 Answer
  • A: “The Marine products have been designed for use on gelcoat surfaces. These marine products would not provide an optimum finish on the paints car and truck manufacturers use on their vehicles. On automotive paints, we recommend the use of products designed for use on cars and trucks.”
