    Worst Shocks I’ve Ever Had

My mechanic replaced my OEM shocks on my Ram 1500 with these shocks. They’re awful. It’s the worst riding suspension I’ve had on any vehicle I’ve owned. In the city, on the highway, they’re incredibly stiff. If you have a load they ride better but for everyday normal driving the ride quality is awful.

No, I do not recommend this product.

The Gas Magnums are a heavy duty shock intended to boost firm control of suspensions that are loaded down and highsprung. Meaning they WILL tame and control your loaded or heavy truck. They will ride superbly smooth in most conditions. However, if you are running empty over washboards you may find them too progressively stiff. They compress easily and quickly. It is the rebound that is valved stiff and slow. So each successive bump in a fast run over the washboard is compressing the spring further/ the result is stiffer the farther along. Make sense? Soon as the road smoothes a bit, the magnums allow the springs to slowly unload and return to a great ride with no bouncing. Awesome for everyday and everywhere driving. A strong shock - just not for rattling down FSR roads with a light unloaded truck. 💪 Also, check before installing. Fully compress and fully extend them at least 3 times before putting in. A GOOD shock will be firm but fairly easy to compress but most importantly very slow and stiff to extend. A BAD one will be fairly easy and quick both ways. A shock with a faster extend (rebound) is NOT a good shock. check! As I have returned 25% of them before installing doing this check. The ones kept all have awesome rides.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Questions

    1 - 2 of 2 Questions

Q: Is there a temperature range that they are effective at? I find living in Cold Lake Alberta that the cold temperatures cause shocks and struts to lose there ability to absorb. Feels like riding on springs only.

    1 Answer
    • A: The vendor advised that they design their valving and fluid to work correctly to -40. However you should keep in mind that the tires and other suspension components will ride firmer when cold so just replacing the shocks will not always change the ride at cold temperatures.
