Very bad experience

I had taken my car in for an exhaust issue that I thought was the flex pipe. When the mechanic saw it was simply a separated section, he fixed it for a rather high cost. He then decided that because I mentioned the flex pipe that it needed to be replaced or he would not approve my safety check. I was advised the exhaust failed the leak test. I had originally decided to spend an absorbent amount of money for him to replace the entire part rather than him cutting off the flex pipe and welding a new one on (which would have been the correct manner to complete the work). I then decided that I would not go forward with the replacement of the flex pipe as I was suspicious that the work did not need to be completed. My car was rejected for the safety. I drove it away regardless. I took it to another (more reputable) shop a few days later. The test was completed for exhaust leaks, passed three times, no issues. Not happy with Canadian tire and I feel I was lied to. Will not return for anything in the future .
