    Fine print specifications

This is a submersible pump with 1 1/2" FNPT outlet, reduced to a 1/2" pipe assembly with a valve at the end and a hose adapter. The float switch has its own 10 ft. power line, the pump's 10 ft. power line plugs into the back of the float's plug - like Christmas lights. The float switch may, therefore, be eliminated if you monitor the water supply. From the manual: - specifically for garden hoses, NOT to be used with sprinklers, underground sprinkler systems or drip irrigation. (Don't know why.) - the motor has internal overtemp protection that will fail after repeated overtemps. - the pump unit is water cooled and must be kept in 6" of water. However, the automatic float switch is spec'd down to 2". (You may need a well in your rain barrel.) - output with 25 ft of garden hose is approx 8 (US) gallons / 30 litres per minute. (Equal to city supplied water.)

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    • A: The manual says, "NOTE: This pump is not intended to be used with sprinklers, underground sprinkler systems or drip irrigation. It should be used with a garden hose and hose end sprayer only." Nut sure why the restrictions - it has plenty of pressure and flow.

Q: Does this pump have a pressure switch? Does this pump have a pressure switch or is it always on when the power is on the float is up? If a hose is connected to the output and the hose is closed (no water flow) will the pump run? Thanks!

    • A: It has a float switch that is spec'd to cut off at 2 inches of water. Note that the pump requires 6 inches of water for cooling. The pump runs as long as there is power and the float switch is on - valve open or closed.
