How to check coolant levels in your car

In order for your vehicle’s engine to stay cool and prevent overheating, you need to have proper coolant levels – not just in the winter, but year round.

5 STEPS

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

STEP 1

Make sure the engine is cool

MAKE SURE ENGINE IS COOL_1108x622

STEP 2

Use a rag to remove the cap of the radiator tank

REMOVE RADIATOR TANK CAP WITH RAG_1108x622

STEP 3

Check the radiator’s coolant level

The fluid should be near the top, or at the “Full” mark on the radiator tank.

Top it off if the level is low

Check the coolant’s protection level with a coolant tester
