What does a dehumidifier do?

Dehumidifiers extract extra water from the air and condense it into a tank for easy disposal, directly reducing humidity in the area.

Why do I need a dehumidifier?

You should consider getting a dehumidifier if your home gets very damp, as that can lead to unpleasant musty smells and impact air quality if mold develops.

What type of dehumidifier should I buy?

It’s a good idea to match the size and capacity of a dehumidifier to your space. For very large or damp areas, a larger dehumidifier with 40-pint capacity or more is your best bet. Smart dehumidifiers can be easily controlled from your phone or voice assistant.

What features should I look for in a dehumidifier?

Size and portability are important to look for, make sure the dehumidifier you choose has enough bucket capacity for your space, and that it’s easy to move if needed. Places that get damp often will require dehumidifiers to run more, so getting a model with continuous drain can also be helpful.

Where should I place a dehumidifier?

One of the most common places for a dehumidifier is the basement, as basements tend to get damp more quickly than other parts of the home, which can lead to mold and odours. Garages are also common places for dehumidifiers, as excess dampness there can ruin stored items.

Additional information for residents of Quebec only: The regular annual rate for persons applying for the Triangle Mastercard and the Triangle World Elite Mastercard is 21.99% for cash transactions and related fees and 21.99% for all other charges. Some applicants may receive a higher or lower regular annual rate depending on a credit evaluation. The minimum payment is the sum of (a) the greater of: (i) interest and fees shown on your statement + $10; or (ii) 5% of the New Balance, excluding amounts on special payment plans, (b) any balance over your credit limit, (c) any amounts past due not included in (b) above, and (d) the amount of any equal payments plan instalments then due. Balances under $10 are due in full. For residents of Quebec, the period between the statement date and the due date for payment is 26 days.
