Great potential but with two flaws

I just moved 40 yards of crushed rock and top soil with this, so I feel I am very qualified to give a review. It is sturdily built and feels 'heavy duty' to use. The self-leveling mechanism does work as advertised and it is handy when setting the wheelbarrow down on uneven terrain. It can be annoying if only working on level ground, because it sets down unlevel if you're not careful to set it down level each time. If bought on sale, this wheelbarrow has great potential to be the best value out there, but it does have two big flaws which is why I'm only giving it 3 stars. First, the solid wheel design. It is quite a bit narrower than normal wheelbarrow tires and it is hard plastic, so with full load, it left ruts in my lawn, and you can't push it over rough or loose terrain because it digs down into the soil. I changed the wheel for the regular size non-pneumatic wheel off my old wheelbarrow and now it works great! But you shouldn't have to do this. If I didn't have another wheel to put on it, I would have returned it and exchanged it for an industrial one with a regular size non-pneumatic tire. Second, the front 'bumper' sticks out too far. It sticks out quite far in front of the tire. So while it allows you to dump easily, even when going down a steep hill, when pushing the wheelbarrow over rough terrain the front bumper fetches up on everything and stops you dead in your tracks. I am planning to cut the extra length from it and weld it closer to the wheel. Again this is something you shouldn't have to do on a new wheelbarrow. That said, I got this on a good sale, so it is still good value for me, given that I had a proper non-pneumatic wheel to put on it. If you are only using this on asphalt or concrete, then I would recommend it as it rolls nicely on that. But I don't recommend it for soft or rough terrain or lawn work without changing the wheel for a regular width one.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Autonivelante autorenversante

Maybe good for a contractor?

I have had this unit in use for about a year and I wouldn't recommend it for the home user. The solid tire makes it awkward to roll/bounce over any kind of obstacle or soft ground. The unit itself is heavy and my wife struggles to move it around the yard once it contains any kind of a load. The self leveling legs sounded like a good idea (we have a hilly yard) but quite often they stick in the last position and need to be manually moved before they work properly again. The unit itself is heavy duty and it will move big loads but it may not be best suited for general yard work.

No, I do not recommend this product.

  • A: No the bearings were prelubed. However if future lubrication is needed a general purpose or wheeling bearing grease could be used.
