Strong and sturdy, but folding design isn’t great

This wagon is definitely large and sturdy. We have had our 6-year-old ride in it alongside folding chairs and other bags. The only negative about it is that it is very hard to move around when folded up. You have to really wrestle the cover on, and the long metal arm that you pull doesn’t really have anywhere to properly tuck away so it keeps popping out and falling down. There’s no obvious handle or anything to carry it with when it’s folded, which can actually make it quite difficult to manoeuvre when carrying it out of a closet, up basement stairs, or to the car etc. Aside from that, it seems quite durable and well-built.

Fantastic Wagon - perfect for summer fun

We purchased this in early July to use at an outdoor music festival. The wagon is very sturdy, easy to setup and store, and has a very large capacity. It doesn't weigh too much and packs up compactly. It is also easy to pull with big wheels. We have put it to good use since at the beach and anywhere else we need to haul chairs, food, and gear.

Q: The wheels do not work well in the sand. Am I doing something wrong?

  • A: Probably not! Most tires, however well made, struggle in loose sand. I would recommend carting your load to the beach, unloading it on the edge of the loose sand, wheeling your wagon to the harder sand, then loading again. Hope this helps!

  • A: In our case, replacement wheels were not an option because the entire metal wheel assembly broke clean off the frame.  Threw the whole thing out and got an entirely different brand.

  • A: The useable size of the wagon is 38 inches long by 20 inches wide and is 15 inches deep. When unfolded it is 26 inches high and the collapsible handle extends from 13 to 26 inches.

Q: We bought this last summer but never got to use it. This year we pulled it out and one of the wheels rubs against the metal and makes the most annoying sound when pulling my 12 month old daughter. What are our options?

  • A: • Sorry that you seem to be having difficulties with your wagon – it is not possible to tell the reason for the rubbing without looking at the wagon specifically, but it sounds like the wheel housing may have been dented or damaged somehow. You should be able to return the wagon to the store where purchased, and they can take a look at the cause. Most likely a replacement wagon would be issued – as there is no way to fix only a wheel mount at store level. • As an aside – the wagons are not rated as child carrying devices – please be aware these were designed primarily to carry items like chairs, coolers, picnic supplies – and there are no safety features built in to the item for use with children.

Q: what are the length's of the handles on your Wood's folding wagons number 076-55-41-2 and 076-2933-8?

  • A: You might also like to know that I am 5' 8" tall and have no problem with the handle length. I think someone would have to be over 6' 0" tall before handle length became an issue because I can raise my hand several inches and the wagon is still not close enough to start hitting my feet. (Since the handle is at what ever angle works, raising the handle brings the wagon closer to you.)

Q: Does the manufacturer use fire retardant in the fabric coating? Apparently this type of fabric often has fire retardant in the coating. added

  • A: Thanks for your enquiry into the coating materials used in our WOODs outdoor products. While virtually all outdoor items have an element of coatings – they vary greatly from furniture to tents to packs. Key point is any coating in use on our products meets or exceeds the standards as set by the Canadian government for safe levels. The WOODS wagon you describe does not have flame retardant coating, however many of the camping chairs do. In every case the type of chemical used, and the level applied at, still falls well within the range considered acceptable by both Canadian regulations and CTC level of standards. You should feel safe and comfortable with your purchases – we are also looking out for the safety of all consumers as well as environmental concerns. Enjoy the great outdoors with no worries!

  • A: Thanks for your enquiry into the WOODS XL wagon. Without actually seeing the issue you describe; it is hard to provide an answer. We suggest you take it back into the store where purchased and have the camping department staff take a look at it. All wheels should be aligned correctly, so if there is an issue with the mount or the wheel itself – they’d be able to recommend a fix or offer a replacement if it is a warranty issue. Hope that helps out!
