Good value with some caveats

For the price, it's a good 3-season car camping bag (and winter shoulder season). I just returned from a 2-night camp in a 3-season tent with temps down to -1C, almost no wind. I borrowed this bag from my wife as mine isn't winter rated and I'm 6' 200lbs. First night I left the hood open, wearing minimal layers as I sleep hot (socks/long-johns/ wool shirt) and woke at 2am up feeling cool, but tightening the drawerstring helped a bit. Night #2 I layered up, adding a fleece top and track pants, and started with the drawstring tightened. Things were much better however, my fleece top was like velcro on the bag fleece liner and was really annoying as every movement gripped the bag as I adjusted sleeping positions. However, it still felt cool in spots around the bag and I believe this is due to the absence of draft protection along the length of the zipper. I would not recommend this bag below -5C as I'm pretty sure it would be a restless night. Adding a draft tube would make it great but I'm guessing CT avoided this as it is already a massive sleeping bag and would put it over the top. In saying all that... this is a great bag for 5C+ and the removable liner is a handy feature for those warmer nights. Recommended, but not for winter.

Sleeping bag is very warm but the removable lining inside sticks to clothing so a bit uncomfortable. I will remove lining next time.

Q: How is the liner attached to the sleeping bag on the fold side. I see that it is attached by zipper on the opening side but on the fold side how does it attach to the sleeping bag

  • A: There is an elastic loop on top of liner and a toggle on top of sleeping bag, the liner could attach to the sleeping bag when folded by connecting elastic loop and toggle.
