we got this for fun and have used it in our backyards and in the field. found lots of old nails and some coins.
and old garbage...
all in all a lot of fun but i wouldnt expect to find crazy treasure or anything!

my wife got mad a me and she throw out her ring in the bush ....
we look for it long time and it was night and dark and .... tears .... and the next morning i got one of these and found it in under 10 mints !!!!

A: The 79-3944 can be used in water to just below the control panel. However, submerging the handle portion in water would cause damage.

Q: Can I use this for locating cable line or gas line underground?

A: It depends how big and deep the lines are, as well as the composition of the gas line. If the gas line is brass, it should be spotted about 6 inches down. The cable line will be tougher as the wire strands are typically very small in diameter. My suggestion is to move up to the Discovery 2200 so that you can go deeper and have better sensitivity and discrimination.
