Works pretty good
For the price this works really good, I have used it on a mountain bike, sail boat, quad and street bike and it does everything well, probably not as good as a GoPro but for the average amateur it’s fine. The wrist remote is a great feature, only complaint is trying to get accessories as GoPro accessories don’t fit it.

A few quirks and 4k10fps
First things first, the 4K is only 10FPS which looks appalling and I almost considered returning it until I noticed some features that outweighed the major problem.
I did some searching online to learn more about the camera, but there was also nothing much about it, so I decided to purchase it and see for myself.
Pros: | |
This camera comes with a wireless wrist control (On/Off, Video, Photo), which is awesome. The connection is decent, once you get far it starts to become line-of-sight.
The battery lasts a long time, at least for mine, according to the recording times it has lasted 1hr 20mins +/- 15 mins, even in really cold weather.
The camera turns on fast, and depending on your settings (E.g if timelapse is set to on or not) it is ready to go almost immediately.
Records 720p and 1080p at 60fps, 2K at 4:3 ratio (Square) at 30fps.
You can also record at 120fps at 720p, though as of this review I haven't tried it in good lighting to comment on that functionality.
WiFi is quick and the app (as of the time of this review) is decent to work with and the connection is stable when in the same room, I've tested it between walls and the connection speed degrades considerably (WiFi is like this, this isn't the camera's fault.)
Cons: | |
4K at 10fps, is visually appalling even if the camera is stationary with a few things moving (My test was with a snow fall). This heavily effected my rating
No video settings other than White Balance. Exposure compensation would have been nice, since it tends to under expose when there is snow or a bright background. Although an inconvenience, it didn't effect my rating as I have other cameras like this and it doesn't matter too much.
Sometimes in 2K there is a while outline on objects when the background is brighter (In my testing, snow and clear sky), though this didn't effect my rating as it isn't a big deal for me.
Date and time doesn't seem to properly change, E.g When I set the date on the 12th of January 2018, and recorded a video on the 21st, the recording date is still the 12th of January. This is a huge issue and heavily effected my rating.
The camera records timelapses, but 4K is not an option, but 1080p is. This did not effect my rating as the timelapses look pretty great along with the long battery life.
The Vivitar App (as of the time of this review) on both Android and IOS turn on timelapse mode in the camera settings automatically without a notice, this didn't effect my rating - though it is something to remember to change back.
To conclude, I wouldn't recommend this camera at this price if you plan on recording anything in 4K, but I would grab this on a good sale, otherwise I would consider a GoPro Hero 5 for 4K.
The camera responds pretty quickly to buttons, will happily oblige to pretty much any setup, I put mine out side in really cold days in the winter of 2017/early 2018 and it powered through it.
Bonus: | |
The wrist controller take a bit to get used to, as the manual didn't say too much about it.
The red LEDs around the buttons means that it is connecting and once the LEDs turn off, while still holding the button, the controller has connected to the camera and will do the action once you release the button. - sometimes this is instantaneous, sometimes it takes a second or two depending on the the distance. |...........................| Unfortunately the formatting for reviews isn't the best, I have included spaces to indicate new lines,
No, I do not recommend this product.

Battery does not hold charge
I have tried to use this camera 3 times now and the battery only lasts 5 minutes and then goes dead. This is from a full charge.
