Very well built. Very sturdy. Still incredibly sturdy when stacked. 3 pairs of shoes will fit per shelf (unless the shoes are extra wide). Low top boots (below the ankle) are a borderline fit between shelves. Depends on the specific boot. High top boots (above the ankle) will not fit. Shelf mesh does a decent job of catching dripping water from shoe soles. Has adjustable feet for leveling. Comes with the hardware and tools for rack assembly, securing the rack to a wall, and rack stacking.

Q: I want to use this *without* the middle shelf, to leave more height for boots on the bottom shelf. Has anyone tried it that way? How sturdy is it with only the top and bottom shelves?

A: The first rack of a pair, I just randomly built in this 2 shelf configuration you suggest and it was quite sturdy. I even had to back off the installed screws to get the middle shelf in to complete it. All 3 shelves are more sturdy yet, but I wouldn't say it's a significant difference vs 2 shelves, top and bottom. I'm not sure how unstable it might be like if you stacked multiple racks using this suggested 2 shelf configuration however. All I can tell you is that stacking them using all 3 shelves is still incredibly sturdy. Low cut boots (below the ankle) are borderline in terms of fitting with the 3 shelf configuration. Depends on the specific boot. High top boots (above the ankle) won't fit in the 3 shelf configuration.
