This is exactly like the one we had but ours was a touch cover to open up, this one is open by a foot pedal, works fine if you can get used to the pedal, LOL! Our old one broke.

Q: Does this can have a locking lid mechanism?

A: The lid itself doesn’t have the locking mechanism, it opens with the foot pedal. The black part of the lid can be lifted (front part) to put the bag in and has clips to snap it into place
