A: They keep the shelves separated and positioned during shipping to prevent damage. They are packaging and are not part of the shelf.

Q: Is the max capacity 250lbs per shelf AND total? Can I put 250lbs on each shelf? It's a bit confusing because in one section it says each shelf can hold up to 250lbs but in the dimensions it says total capacity is 250lbs. Thank you!

A: It is 250 lb per shelf and about 800 to 1000 lb for all shelves together. Usually the top most shelf should have less weight to avoid tripping over. All these wire shelves are similar from different retailers.

A: Personally I would not use it outdoors at all. I don't think it would hold up to the weather.

Q: I have had this shelf unit for many years and I would like to adjust the height of the shelves. How do I do that? I tried lifting the top shelf off and it won’t budge?

A: Use a rubber mallot and hit the shelf from the bottom up.

Q: Plastic clips don't click together ("top" IS pointed up!) and when I lower shelf they fall off or slide down so that 4 sides aren't even. Please suggest remedy. Otherwise this product is a 0 for me.

A: The shelving worked great for me. The plastic clips must sit in the groves on the posts or they won't clip together fully and would fall off or slide down. When installing the clips, squeeze them together around the post while you slide them up or down slightly and they will snap into place when the grooves align. Once this happens they should not fall off.

Q: Is assembly inside a closet possible? Could this item be assembled inside a closet that is just slightly wider and deeper than the unit, but would have overhead space to spare? The closet doors (sliding) would not allow for the item to be put inside once already assembled.

A: Yes. Its easy enough to assemble it outside the closet, take the closet door off if necessary for positioning, secure it to the wall, and then put the closet door back on. You can turn an unused closet into a pantry or linen closet.

A: There is also a top and a bottom, which isn't marked. One end is slightly tapered so the shelf slides over it slightly.
