Worked a lot better than I thought it would on our van"s paint and the detailing strips on the sides. A good match and really blended in nicely! Would purchase again.

Shinkflation

Shinkflation is rearing it's ugly head. Product cost more but the ingredients are cheap knock offs. I have never seen paint peel like this before. This product is expensive and garbage.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

Q: Can you use ,this on wood

4 Answers
  • A: I've only ever used this paint on metal, given that it's what it's designed for. However, almost any paint can cover a wooden surface, but I'm not sure how much would absorb into the wood & what kind of a surface finish that you'd end up with. I'd suggest it would be better to use a paint intended for wood surfaces (e.g. stain, or coloured latex or enamel paints). Tremclad does make coloured paints intended for use on wood, that provides a protective finish that's almost like plastic for kids furniture (as we used it on a child's desk.)

  • A: I don't know. as I've never used this paint for that purpose. The label doesn't show it as microwave-safe. Perhaps check with the paint manufacturer.

Q: Is this a suitable paint for painting a steel front door?

  • A: It should do the trick for a entryway door, yes. Just be sure to prepare the surface properly by removing any loose rust and a light sanding overall will help the paint adhere and cover smoothly.

Q: Can this be used to cover rust spots on a car?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi Icecube, While our Tremclad was not designed for car applications; customers have reported success in coating their automobiles with our paint. For prep, we recommend a very good clean and wire brush to remove any loose rust. Lightly scuff sand the surrounding paint film with 220-grit for maximum adhesion. Make sure to test on a small area first. As well, frequent touch ups may be required as the paint will not be able to withstand the amount of wear and tear it will be exposed to on cars.
