This device and software designed for cellphone and PC only

Wanted to use my older Samsung S5 for this device and not supported. Software for cellphones Android 7 and higher and also my supported Samsung Tablet (android 14) (WI-FI version) the software will not work with tethering cellphone data plan. Thinkware support told me this device and software to work must be on a cellphone only and PC.

Solid and functional.

The video quality is sharp even at night. Easy to install using the cigarette lighter. Alerts for red camera and potential collisions. I only have the front facing camera, did not get the addon for rear camera. For the sale price it was a good buy but I don't think I would buy it at the retail cost.

A: No, live content is viewable for free from the app—but you need to be connected to the camera when viewing, so it will interfere with other functions like Apple CarPlay and can’t be accomplished remotely.

Q: Hi - I have a 2016 Land Rover LR4. While I already have a Garmin dashcam for my front, someone advised me to install one for the rear. Can this Thinkware Q800 be used as a rear dashcam & do I need to get any additional parts for that purpose? Thanks.

A: Yes, it can be used as a rear dash cam, no additional parts are needed. You would need to find a suitable power source (for the cigarette lighter cable) that turns on/off with the car ignition. If the dash cam is connected to an always-on outlet, then this may drain the car battery.
