Large good looking cedar box!

It took about an hour to put together, but is very sturdy and looks much better than a full resin box.

Very Sturdy Box

Pros : This is a very sturdy and large deck box with plenty of space. Canadian Tire has the best price for this box when on sale. Cons: Unfortunately it can be a little troublesome getting it together. The extruded plastic parts do not line up 100% with the wooden parts, so do not tighten any wooden parts (screws) when fitting the plastic bottom plate, which has channel for wood placement. Also since not 100% tight use clear silcon bead to plug gapes (from inside the box). Nothing is noticable on the outside though, so what you see on the website is what you get. Based on this poor alignment issue (which I relate to poor quality) I cannot provide a high scoring for this box (this could be related to origin of manufacturer). Overall a great and very sturdy box. Also pre-treat wood prior to assemble would be a good idea as well (clear water seal product or stain).

We purchased a plastic storage first and returned it and bought this one and it was well worth the extra. I assembled it by myself (48 year old female) and although a little time consuming it was not difficult. I had a problem with one of the hinges and the factory sent a replacement part immediately, great customer service. It is solid, attractive and holds all the cushions from our love seat and chairs on the deck and the lid provides extra seating. It is nice for a change to buy something that is a good quality and well made product.

I stained the wood before i assembled it - no taping! I assembled this myself, just have to be careful with the corner pieces while screwing together. Be sure the tongue and groove is in place and in the right position before screwing. Once assembled, it is solid! Will see how it winters.

  • A: Yes, it is waterproof. The base and top are resin and the cedat sides also keep the water out. I keep my power tools in it.

  • A: It is tongue in groove and keeps the water out. Stain will help preserve the look of the cedar, but I left mine natural and let it grey to match the rest of my deck.
