Poor Quality

I was completely disappointed with this product. The quality is awful. Once it was installed, the actual bar started to bow when pulling elevator up. It didn’t even have clothes on the line. Like other reviews, the rope busted off at the top internally, the whole entire mechanism was poor to begin with and broke immediately. Read the reviews and definitely do not buy this. Like someone else said, the options in Canada seem to be only this brand. A quick Google search led me to Wright Clothesline Products in Toronto, and they have an amazing clothesline elevator, which we just installed today that will definitely last for years to come! Save your money, don’t purchase this. Look up WCP in Toronto and reach out to them.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Requires alot of not included hardware

Bought one of these to put onto my clothesline pole. Would have expected U-bolt shackles to be included for a standard pole but that's on me, I didn't read all the way through to see what was included just assumed necessary hardware would have been included. Bad part was when I found out the dipping-do-dah who designed the thing failed to make mounting holes the same spacing top and bottom. As long as you have a 5" exhaust clamp, a 3¹/²" exhaust clamp, a drill press, some half inch nuts, bolts and washers and a spacer of some sort, you're fine.

Thicker rope or wider pulley may help.??

Installed on a 6x6 post. First pull on the rope it came off the pulley at top.Had to remove unit in order to get the rope back on to pulley. Reinstalled, same thing happened again while hanging laundry. Removed and returned to store.

Questions

Q: Any tips on restringing? The rope was stuck in the top pulley, I had to untie and wasn't able to fish through successfully.

  • A: Use tape on the end of the rope  for about 4 inches .This should make it a little stiffer and you should be able to push it though.

Q: Can the pole be cut down? I need a 36" inch elevator.

  • A: I dediced to find out for myself if it could be cut down. I purchased this and successfully cut it down to the required 36" no problem at all. Just loosened a set screw and cut the pole with a hacksaw and put it back together.

  • A: My suggestion: Get yourself two appropriately sized muffler clamps to clamp the top and bottom brackets to your pole. Muffler clamps are in two parts: U-bolt with nuts and washers and a round bracket adaptor that prevents pipe crushing.

Q: As I intend to mount the elevator on the brick façade of the back of my house, I want to know if the weight of 70 feet of clothesline with wet clothes on it will pull the brick down. Or should I lag screw through the brick and sheathing into the 2x6 studs

1 Answer
  • A: 100% must be connected into something solid behind the brick.
