Don’t buy.

Right from the start the igniter didn’t work. I’d already thrown the box out so I couldn’t take it back.

Awful overpriced kitchen torch

Awful little thing. Huge disappointment. The starter sometimes works, but mostly doesn't. The flame adjustment slide and air control lever are somewhat ineffective, and the overall product is very clumsy and poorly designed for usability. Oh, and it doesn't work at the angles one would require it to for, say, a creme brûlé. If you're not in a rush, get something better and cheaper elsewhere.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Blue fire

This is the bakers torch you’re looking for. The flame is true blue and crème brûlée is perfect. Do not get the handyman torch - it is not the same at all. This one was made for the kitchen.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

Q: Is it battery operated since it says the power source is battery ?

1 Answer
  • A: No, it's a butane torch and you need to refill it

Q: My torch will not fill enough butane to be able to have the torch on for more than 30 seconds. Is there a fix for this?

1 Answer
  • Lifetime Brands Canada

A: Please be sure to follow the directions on filling the torch. If you turn down the flame level that will increase the length of each fill as well.

Q: How long does it take to fill up the chamber? The torch didn’t come with any refilling instructions.

1 Answer
  • Lifetime Brands Canada

A: Fill times can vary depending on how well you seal the connection. if you have good seal on the fill it shouldn’t take any longer than 10-15 seconds to fill.

Q: What is the tank capacity and when full how long does the flame stay lit ?

1 Answer
  • A: The gas capacity is approximately 15ml and will continuously burn for about 20min at max flame. Please note, we don’t recommend continuously burning for that long to avoid overheating.

Q: Do I need any particular butane canister for this, or will any form of refill work?

1 Answer
  • A: Any butane canister with compatible fill tip should work. It should be the standard refillable butane canisters – Ronson, etc. We would not recommend anything commercial or outside of that even if available.
