Q: Can this be mounted to the wall instead of over the door?

A: If you have any way to make a small little "rail" or just even a couple pieces of 2x4 modified and attached to the wall then you could easily hang this on the wall or on anything. I've included some pictures in my review so you can see the back and the metal bracket. I've tried it on chairs, windows, loft bed rails, etc. It really can hang anywhere that the bracket can fit over (so anything about the thickness of a door).

A: The metal bracket on the top is pretty slim and very good quality but I would say it will depend how tight your door opening is already. It doesn't need much to be able to close the door and most of our doors close fine but some are a little tight. It is definitely meant to be used with the door closed though.

Q: Does this work with popcorn ceiling? I don't want to make a mess when ball hits the ceiling and how much clearance from ceiling does it have once it is placed on the door (is there enough room) as our ceilings are not that high.

A: There are about 2.5 feet of clearance. It’s a lightweight, small ball. The hoop is great quality and we like it a lot. Your mileage may vary, as they say.

A: The rim on this over the door backboard has a spring on the hoop for dunking purposes. The rim is not recommended to hold up a large weight.

A: The bracket is riveted into the backboard of the unit, if you try to remove the bracket from the backboard, you risk breaking the backboard. You will also compromise the integrity of the unit and void the warranty.
