Q: Can this be used to sharpen a lawn mower mulching blade?

A: I have used the unit on a large blade, but I think that a large surface will be required for the Lawn Mower Mulching Blade. If it is difficult to remove, and if the blades are cleaned very well, I would imagine that faced with the softer tool steel blades, this until will do quick work of them.

Q: making a new edge Could i use this to make a new edge on a knife with a broken tip on it?

A: Nothing is better than a diamond surface or Arkansas stone for honing a knife to a very consistent and extra-fine edge. The Speedy Sharp will do a very good number on this, but remember you have less control over the angle of the carbide. Unless you have done this freehand all of your life, then I would stick to a honing stone for doing major work on a knife. BUT, this little unit is an excellent addition to your Everyday Carry Bag, and easily keeps your knives extra sharp. Good luck with getting rid of your broken tip, but I suggest a course diamond sharpening stone - Lansky is likely the best, and Canadian Tire carries this as well - or at least did !

A: Yes, but we recommend using the ‘honing’ method, so to have the speedy sharp blade slowly go back and forth along the edge of the knife.
