It's been a month now and I love my new singer sewing machine.I have made several items to sell the speed of this machine is awesome.

Frustrating Machine

Would not recommend this machine unless you are a fan of having to re-thread needle after sewing a few seams (the thread keeps breaking even after multiple tension changes), and pulling out nests of thread from out of the bobbin area. Purchased Singer bobbins as recommended thinking that might help but did not solve the problem. Also, tried making a few practice buttonholes with special presser foot and it only worked once out of ten tries. I pulled out my old Kenmore to finish my project. I am not a beginner and know how to troubleshoot but had no success with this machine's issues. I've only had the Singer for 6 months. Problem started after using it for two months. I'd suggest you move on to a different manufacturer/machine to save your sanity,

Fabulous Machine

I absolutely love this sewing machine! I purchased this with the intention of not only sewing simple projects but denim and wedding gowns. It is easy to setup, step by step instructions (with pictures) on threading the machine. I am an advanced seamstress but this would still be a great machine for a newbie.

my mother had a singer on which I learned to sw I have had a singer all my life and have sewed aprons to zippers wedding gowns. baby clothes and everything in between I am now making trddy bears clothes for children in the hospital and quilts for my great grand children all on a singer

Q: would this machine be able to sew 1" foam covered with quilters cotton fabric

  • A: The Singer HD6380 can sew some thicker items with the proper machine settings and needle. Please be aware that if you sew on multiple layers that are too thick and it raises the presser foot too high (higher than the normal presser foot up position), the top tension will be disengaged and the machine will not make a proper stitch (may jam machine). It's likely that the 1" foam will even be too thick to fit under this presser foot. Something this thick may possible require a commerical or industrial machine
