Scepter Pro Ramps for Safety and Security
6 years ago
I own a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze LTZ RS, that has a low front bumper, which leaves about 5" ground clearance. The Scepter Pro Ramps work perfectly. They provide enough space to easily perform oil changes and review and adjust front end components. The quality of the ramps is excellent. They provide the extra safety and security I like when I am under any vehicle. They are light and easy to handle. Storing them is very easy because they conveniently nest together. (To hold them together keep the sleeve they came with) I recommend the Scepter Pro Ramps to anyone performing their own car maintenance/repairs.

Worked Great on heavy SUV
Worked great on my Ford explorer 2002. Better and safer than jack stands did not have to worry about adding redundancy below the car. When this product is on sale grab it. It will make your jobs under the car easier and safer.

Worked as intended, make sure it fits your car
7 years ago
The tire ramp worked as intended, held up the car fine and gave a generous access underneath the car to change oil without any issues. It is made of sturdy plastic that can stack onto each other when not in use. The biggest challenge was making sure the ramp can clear a 3rd generation Toyota Prius bumper which has a fairly low clearance. I did a lot of measurements. Despite that, the clearance was extremely tight. The grading of the ground, even with the smallest incline that looks flat, could mean getting the ramp striking the bumper vs clearing it. If you find it does not work on a grade, try to turn your vehicle around the opposite direction and try again. The slightest declining grade will help a lot (vs working against) if your car tire is fairly close to touching the ramp but it couldn't clear the bumper. Last note, don't forget to secure the vehicle after the car is on the ramp by putting on parking brakes AND placing a tire chock at the rear wheels. I bought a fairly affordable tire chock at the RV section of CT.

Have used this product on a garage floor, did not slip when driving onto the ramps. Have used it on a Class C motorhome and was able to use them on a gravel driveway. The held up the motorhome and I was able to change the oil without any issues what so ever. When not in use they pack together very well and take up hardly any space when stood standing up.

Q: 12000 lbs rating or 6000?
The packaging and description claims this pair of ramps is good for up to 12000lbs but on the side, it says they are only good for 6000. What is the real weight limit?

A: 12000lb GVWR, which is 3000lb per corner (4 corners) or 6000lb per pair 8-) ..... not exactly deceptive marketing at all .

Q: Will the ramps work with small cars like an 2004 civic?
I have the older style steel ramps and because oftheir height and steep appraoch angle, the bumper of my car hits the ramp before the tire, making them impossible to use with my honda civic.

A: These are low profile ramps making them very suitable for low profile cars like civics. Just make sure you put them down on a padding or your front wheel drive will shoot them underneath your vehicle on a slippery surface.

Q: Lift and Weight Capacity
What is the vertical lift and vehicle weight capacity of these ramps?
3 Answers
A: I just measured mine. They give a 6 and half inch lift. To get an extra inch out of them I put wide sheets of ply wood down on the garage floor, then I put matting down so nothing slides around especially the ramps.

Q: Ramps are slightly to high for my new car as it will hit the front bumper. Is there an extension or some other way to get my car up?

A: Lay a board down in front of the ramp (for example... a 2-ft long piece of 2x8 lumber). If still not enough clearance, add a shorter (ie: 1-ft) piece on top of the first one to create a little "ramp" (cut ends at angle)

Q: Can I store my SUV on the ramps inside a garage for the winter?

A: Interested in what this would accomplish seeing as it takes none of the vehicle weight off the tires, which I'm assuming is what you are trying to do? If you're worried about flat spots overinflate them when you store it, it will be fine for 4mths.
