Works well

All in all I thought the Rez stripper worked quite well. Follow the directions, keep the deck wet, and use a good stiff deck scrub brush, on a pole handle, so you can work the Rez into the surface. Doesn't hurt to leave it on a bit longer that suggested. I found most of the stripping happened in the first 45 minutes or so. Pressure wash gently, or scrub the residue off with the brush and a hose. Repeat on stubborn areas as needed. Use a brightener when the stripper is washed off before the deck dries. I'll try to attach a picture but the link doesn't seem be working. If it does work, the top boards were not stripped and the bottom boards were stripped, but not pressure washed or brightened, just scrubbed with the deck brush.

Canadian tire disappointment

I bought this Sunday on the way to my cottage. Drove 4 1/2 hours to open the jug to see that the seal was broken and some of it was used. There is no Canadian tire anywhere near our cottage so Returning it was not an option but extremely disappointed that Canadian tire does not check returned items prior to reselling them.

Q: You never answered my question.  How do I get this tinted?

4 Answers
  • A: Mary, according to my local store, you can't get tints during the current lockdown. Let me take this opportunity to advise you, it's not a great product. I can show you my recent experience if you read my review. If you look at the ratings, you will see more one star than 5 star. The Canadian Tire smarties make it easy for you to see 5 star.. as it is organized to show them first, regardless of when the review was made.

  • A: I would take it in and get them to put it in the shaker again to make sure it's thoroughly combined, then give it a try, but i think it should be fine.

Q: What is the difference between 048-5948-4 and  048-5952-2 ?  Tried to search online for colours  but can’t find nothing. Couple of years ago I used 5952-2 but bought 5948-4 this year in error. Is there much difference ?

  • A: Hello Ceeg, 0485948 is Rez Solid Walnut & 0485952 is Rez Semi Transparent Walnut. With the first one you are getting a solid color and the other one is a semi-transparent finish. There is a difference between the 2 products. Thank you

Q: Is this a cleaner or a sealer? It says "mildew remover", but also "water repellent". How can it clean if it leaves the surface water repellent? There are dark stains on the wood (deck), probably due to mildew. Will this product remove them before we seal?

2 Answers
  • A: It's a cleaner that you will use to prep your deck/wood before you stain. It will remove all of the mildew and grease from the wood. It will not seal the wood at all

Q: Hello I have previously used rez oil stain on my fence and deck. Now I see the the label say oil/water formula. What does that mean. Can I use the water base over oil based stain

2 Answers
  • A: Yes, this Rez is a hybrid between the two products so that you can use the Rez stain on your previously stained deck.

Q: Why are all these reviews for a deck stain? The product that I am looking at is Rez deck stripper

2 Answers
  • A: Good question ... don't know the answer. This product is advertised as a "deck stripper" and does not work! I purchased it in April, tried using it, could not get it to even bubble the old finish, and returned it to Canadian Tire, which graciously accepted the return of a non-functioning product. Thank you CTC!
