RESCUE! Disposable Yellow Jacket Trap

Product Details

Pet Safety Our Yellowjacket Traps do not use any killing agents or poisons. The product relies on trapping yellowjackets until they expire on their own. The yellowjacket lure we use is very powerful at attracting yellowjackets. Use caution when maintaining traps. Make sure any trapped yellowjackets are dead before disposing of the trap. What It Catches The disposable trap is effective in targeting and trapping all of the major species of yellowjackets found in North America. It’s perfect for picnics and camping trips. The insects simply follow their instincts, enter the trap and drown in the liquid inside. Where To Hang It Our Disposable Yellowjacket Traps are intended for OUTDOOR USE. We recommend hanging the trap at least 20 feet away from outdoor living spaces.

Best hornet trap I’ve used - (Metro Vancouver BC )

Hands down the best trap I’ve used. I’m in the lower mainland (BcC) and somewhere around us is a hornets nest. Tried many different types of traps- ones you add your own bait to and also the reusable option (with multiple types of attractants) . Nothing comes close to this simple trap. As soon as I fill it up with water and the chemical bag dissolves, hornets show up and enter through the plastic gate at the top. Easy to set up- cut the top to release the plastic housing, add a string and add water. The trap is full within hours. I’ve had to buy a few because it fills up quickly (the dead hornets end up floating on the top layer).

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great Wasp Trap

Every year over the last 3 or 4 years I’ve used these traps when wasp activity increases. The bag can fill quickly when they are really active.

Questions

Q: Does this wasp trap contaminate flowers and vegetables in my garden if the Wasp attractant is transferred to the flowers of vegetables etc.

2 Answers
  • A: No, the wasps can't leave the trap so they can't transfer it anywhere.

Q: How long can the trap stay hung for? Can it stay up all summer if it isn’t yet full? There appear to be a lot of wasps caught but there are also now live flies trapped above the water line. Does it “expire” after being hung for a certain period of time?

Q: How long does it last? I've had one of these up for about a week now and it's still catching wasps. The bag is almost full of wasps - thousands of them - but I'm wondering when to take it down?

2 Answers
  • A: That all depends on how bad the wasps are. I've had to change mine weekly, others have only had to change every few weeks.

Q: Why does it have to be at least 6m from nest? What happens if it’s closer? I see wasps going into my roof through a cut out around an electrical box, so don’t know exactly where the nest actually is. I’ve placed the trap near that entrance to this cut out

1 Answer
  • A: We recommend hanging this trap at least 6m from any known nests. When yellowjackets leave the nest, they don't start foraging right away. If you hang the trap too close to a nest, it will not be successful at trapping yellowjackets from that nest.

Q: Will this work for just Yellow Jackets?  Will it work also for Paper Wasps and Hornets?

  • A: This product is effective on yellowjackets only. To catch wasps and hornets in addition to yellowjackets, we recommend the WHY Trap. Thanks!
