Simple design does the job

I have had these for years. Simple design that can be a little finicky to get setup since the flag will go off easy or hard depending on how the shaft is angled, how much you push the shaft down and which side you use. But this adjstability is also great for those fish that require a hair-trigger setting. They are nearly indestructable. Only downside is that the metal shaft conducts cold from the air down into the water, causing pretty bad freeze-ups. It can still typically be stored, but would be nice if they could come up with a version that had a plastic covered shaft.

This is a pretty good tip up! Certainly can catch fish and is sensitive enough that I have had it trigger on small fish that bit and didn’t swim away. Setting flag can be a bit finicky because of how sensitive it is but overall this is a good tip up.

Took this out once at -17 degrees with medium wind. Didn’t catch anything with it, kept water from freezing very well compared to my other traditional tip up. My only issue with it, is the flag spring system I would say. You would need a tighter spring to give the flag some kick. Other than that good little rig.
