Good Concept but bad design and cheap lines.

Installation was initially fairly easy using the included pin screw connector. However eventually that started leaking which means I had to shut off my water to my sink until it was fixed. I had to cut my water line (since that connector put a whole in it) and replace with a proper T with a shut off. It actually started to now work with a good flow, instead of the annoying trickle that came out using the provided connector. worked well for a few days now multiple times the lines just come out of the connectors and it leaks everywhere. I'm waiting for some test results back to see if it actually works to make the drinking water safe.
No, I do not recommend this product.

RAINFRESH HANDLING ISSUES, inspect units before you buy.

The unit I received was broken. 2nd time buying this unit from Canadian Tire and it was BROKEN. it is always the same, ceramic filter broken and this one had the spout seals extruding out. Returned it and was credited. Went to another store purchased another one and it was perfect. Speaking to Rainfresh regarding these breakages, they say they cannot control how they are handled once they leave the factory.....

L’eau que j’avais a filtrer est très sulfureuse. Le filtre fait disparaître tout le mauvais goût. L’eau qoute presque rien près du goût de l’eau distillée. Très heureux de l’achat.

A: Hello, Thank you for considering Rainfresh for your water filtration needs. Yes Drinking Water System 1 (62-1015) includes and separate faucet and thus requires a separate 7/8" diameter hole in the counter top. If you are on municipally treated water, you can choose filter system model UFMCA (62-2023) which connects to the cold water side of the existing kitchen faucet and does not require a separate hole. However for untreated water from a well, lake, river or cistern, you will need a separate faucet. Q: Will a Rainfresh Carbon Taste/Odor cartridge work in this enclosure or does it only work for the ceramic cartridge?

A: Hi Randy, Rainfresh Drinking Water System 1 (621015) is specifically designed to work only with the1S ceramic cartridge (621035). No other cartridge will fit or work with this unit. Please note that the 1S ceramic cartridge used in this system features an activated carbon core that reduces chlorine, taste and odour. So you may not need an additional taste/odour filter. Q: I do not have hot water at my camp so there is no chance for cross contamination. So can I connect the system to my regular tap?

A: Although not recommended, you could install Drinking Water System 1 (621015) on your kitchen faucet. Apart from the hot water contamination, there are other limitations though. - Kitchen faucets have higher flow rates (typically over 2 GPM) compared to max 1GPM for the system. As the cartridge gets dirty, this will drop even further until you clean the cartridge. - Installing the filter on the kitchen faucet will increase the water usage through the filter as it will have to provide water for cleaning etc. This will cause more frequent need for cleaning and can eventually lead to a shorter cartridge life - Drinking Water System 1 (621015) has ¼” tube connections whereas most kitchen faucets have 3/8” connections. So you would need extra fittings to adapt the system to your kitchen faucet.

Q: Do you have to use the supplied tap? This type will not work for the system I have at my camp. If not do you have a system good for lake water that does not include the tap to save money?

A: Although you can use the unit with the kitchen faucet, it is not recommended for several reasons even if there is no possibility of cross contamination from the hot water side. The filter unit has ¼” tubing which does have the same flow as your regular kitchen faucet. So by attaching the filter to the kitchen faucet cold side, you will likely notice a drop in water flow which may not be suitable for washing dishes or rinsing. Secondly, the kitchen faucet has a lot more water use and therefore will lead to more frequent cartridge cleanings and/or replacement. Please also note that the system is not available without the faucet. If you have any further questions, please contact Rainfresh customer service directly.

Q: Can I install this to the cold water line on my existing faucet? Can I install this to the cold water line on my existing faucet? I like the idea of this filter, but I don't want a 2nd tap installed.

A: Hello, the Drinking Water System 1 (62-1015) is designed to make water safe to drink by removing bacteria (E. coli), parasites etc. There are two reasons for a separate faucet: 1) Attaching the filter to the cold water side of the kitchen tap can lead to cross contamination from the hot water line leading to consumption of unsafe water accidentally. 2) By using the filter for the kitchen faucet will lead to more frequent filter cleanings and therefore more frequent cartridge replacements. Q: What is the minimum water pressure required for this filtration system?
