Q: What is the horse power for this pump?

1 Answer
  • A: 70 watts - 1.0 amps is the power the pump uses. Now, technically the conversion is 750 watts = 1HP. So this pump would be 0.093HP - similar to 1/10th HP. A word of caution, in the Utility pump and floating fountain game people throw HP around as a marketing tool it really has no basis in general power consumption just FYI

Q: Can I use a reduced fitting to connect to a 3/4” line. Also if the volume of water is to strong if I install a control valve on the line will that work or would it be to hard on the pump?

1 Answer
  • A: If you use ¾” tubing it would be fine for the pump, but would end up with a lot of pressure in the line. Also a flow control valve on the outlet tubing would be okay to use as well.

Q: does this work to airiate ponds 30 x 50 feet

1 Answer
  • A: By using the following formulas, you can determine how many gallons are in your pond. For Circular Ponds multiply the following numbers: Diameter x Diameter x Depth x 5.9 = gallons of pond water. For Rectangular Ponds multiply the following numbers: Length x Width x Depth x 7.5 = gallons of pond water. Depending on the depth of the pond, you will be able to determine the amount of gallons using one of the formulas above. When choosing a pump for your pond, there is a relatively easy formula for you to use. What you are looking to do is turn half of the total water volume in your pond once an hour. So for example, if your pond has a total of 1,000 gallons of water, you would probably need to use a pump with a G.P.H. (gallons per hour) rating of 500 gallons.
