Piece of junk

Worked for about a month then nothing. Not impressed about this product. Should have read the reviews. Needed it in a pinch though as there was nice winter weather days.

No, I do not recommend this product.

The instructions were helpful but I ended up using the OEM Service Bulletin which had more precise information. Install went well. The only negative is that I would have appreciated them including a plug cover. I purchased a plug cover from the same manufacturer but it did not fit.

Updated model for 2023-4 + the missing specs: Tested with a meter and it is a 400+ Watt 3.4 Amp block heater. Does not have a bend and stick out of the core plug on the actual heater element like perhaps the older model or higher wattage one does. Element barely comes out of the brass plug so perhaps the 6 o'clock positioning is no longer relevant. I'll make sure it is on the bottom of the plug in any case. The reasoning is the element should be as centered in the block passage as possible so as not to stress the interior heater coil with hot coolant and a frozen block. Don't forget to never start the car with this plugged in. The sudden flood of cold coolant from the radiator will break it like a hot frying pan put under cold water.; if I haven't over mansplained this, that is. Personally, the $50 price tag is a bit much but will work great on this 2.7 L engine. Someone needs the car and I know it will work this month of January and for years to come. Get 'er done, no time for diddlin around. Like to add pictures.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Does this item have an internal thermal cutoff and if so what is the temp limit. Thanks R

1 Answer

A: Hi, this block heater does not have an internal thermal cutoff. when you plan to use it, the block heater should be plugged in at least 3-4 hours before hand. With that said there is nothing wrong leaving it plugged in overnight or longer. Thanks,
