It came with a torn strap for the seat

The strap that holds the seat on was cut. The first time I used it I thought it would hold up but it didn’t. It ripped completely and the back support is now useless on a brand new kayak.

Great starter or recreational kayak.

Pros: This is a great starter kayak or cottage recreational kayak. It is very stable and helps build kayaking confidence. It’s durable, easy enough to transport and very easy to paddle. I would recommend this for kids’ rough fun or very beginner kayakers. Get it on sale if you don’t plan to keep it for kids/new learners or for more than a season. Once you know how to kayak, you will quickly want to upgrade. Cons: The water bottle holder is moulded strangely and in an awkward spot. It would be better if it were closer to the seat so that it was more easily reachable as well as angled flatter/toward the hull not toward the sky so the bottle is seated more stably and doesn’t roll out. I also highly recommend getting scupper plugs for the seating area to keep your butt drier.

I like how the Pelican is on the water so steady and stable. I do have a hard time moving it by myself as it is very awkward due to there are no handles on it! It was something I didn't notice when I purchased it. Someone had brought it out from the store and loaded it into my truck for me so I still did not notice it until the other day when I had to load it myself into my truck

Q: Will installation of a different seat prevent your bottom from getting wet, or is there any way to prevent a wet bottom?

A: The design of this kayak makes a low spot where the seat is. Any water off the oars or splashing into the kayak will end up at the seat. The Pelican Sentinel 100 doesn't have this problem and has a better seat but is a bit more expensive.
