A: Using a battery powered ratchet is how I've used mine many times. Haven't had any issues. Just take your time and make sure to compress evenly

A: Thanks for your inquiry, Pete. The MacPherson Strut Spring Compressor should not be used on conventional coil springs. This tool is specifically designed to service struts. Conventional coil springs have a much higher spring rate than this tool is designed to handle. Using the incorrect tool when servicing any vehicle suspension spring could cause personal injury or damage to the vehicle. We do offer a tool specifically designed to service conventional coil springs (OEMTOOLS® Coil Spring Compressor - 125-0051-2).
