Incredible value for the torque achieved

I searched this product to write this review because i bought it a couple years ago and now i feel justified in writing a view for it. It's absolutely amazing and quite scary. Yesterday i used it to remove an axle bolt that should have had, in excess of, 450 ft.lbs on it and it was completely free spinning. I was getting ready to use the 3/4" breaker and a friend with their foot on the brake, but mostly as a joke i threw the socket on the nut buster and after about 5 seconds and maybe 45 degrees of rotation (of the entire connected axle - it was free of the transmission) it spun cleanly out. I could NOT believe it. This tells me this thing is capable of shearing off basically any bolthead under 20-something mm. Do not use it to put wheels on. Only use it to undo stuff you would normally need to counterhold. Don't use an impact on things like camshafts though, it can shatter them or at least exacerbate stress cracks. but things like ballancers or torque to yield axle bolts apparently, this thing actually really works. I also use it off of a motomaster 3000watt inverter and a secondary battery in the trunk so it's not even fussy about super "clean" power either for location work. The only downside i've encountered, and it's really to be expected with something like this, is that it is quite long. if it was somehow stubbier it would be much easier to use and possible to use... the working width of the tool with a socket on it is pretty massive, like 30+cm.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great Tools

Happy with it. I buy it in place of the Blue Mastercrat because it was $109. I Decide to overhaul my water heater and the Anode rod wasn't bulging even with a 1/2 pry bar with an 6 pans impact socket. Take me a second with that tools and it will simplify my life as I change winter to summer wheels on 2 cars.

Q: can this electric impact wrench bust out bolts and nuts like strut suspensions, knuckles, lower control arms on sedan vehicles?

  • A: I nerved used it for that particular use but I doubt it if it can do it. You most probably need one that uses air compressor. Hope this helps.

Q: I tried to use 1/2 drive socket with this and it doesn't fit. Do I need to take the ring at the top off?

  • A: Hi Yudkat, the MAXIMUM 8.5A Nut-Busting Impact Wrench offers a 1/2" square drive with a friction ring system that keeps sockets and adaptors in place. To install a suitable socket ( not supplied) that matches the nut, align the hole of the socket with the steel ball on the coupler and push the socket into the coupler. To remove the socket from the coupler, simply pull out the socket from the coupler. For additional assistance call, 1-888-670-6682 Monday through Friday from 9 am until 6 pm EST. We'd be more than happy to assist you. Thank you for choosing Maximum!- Heaven J

Q: If I use this tool to install my winter tires, will it torque the lug nuts to 400 foot pounds!?

2 Answers
  • A: Yes I think. First, I lock the nut in a second not more with the impact wrench and torque to 100 ft. pounds to fix it. with a 24" hand bar. Or use a smaller impact wrench as 240 ft.pounds. to ending the job.

Q: How long do you usually last using this product

2 Answers
  • A: I'm not sure what you're asking. If you're asking about how long a person can handle it without a break, it is heavy and, for an old guy like me, it takes 2 hands and putting it down frequently. I still like how powerful it is!

Q: whats the difference in maximum brand and mastercraft

1 Answer
  • A: You can't go wrong with choosing either Maximum or Mastercraft. Both offer excellent quality, though the Maximum brand is considered premium, ideal for professional and seasoned crafters. Mastercraft is considered the "better" option, which is still great for skilled crafters, but is also geared towards do-it-yourself and home use.
