Great replacement battery

Great replacement battery. Strong power.

Two diff vehicles, these failed within a couple of years.

Really disappointed in how these performed. They seemed great at first, but in the last month and a half two of them have died. One in my Honda Civic and one in my Honda Odyssey. Had to use AMA for tows, pay for new batteries and installs, it’s just been quite a costly thing. I couldn’t really take advantage of any warranty (which I assume is a replacement battery) because I had to get new ones asap at the repair shop etc. I won’t buy this brand again.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great battery

I bought this battery to replace the identical battery I bought 5 years ago. Turns out the identical battery I bought 5 years ago was fine and my CT store had no problem taking the new battery back 2 days after purchase. I gave this battery 5 stars because the same one I bought 5 years ago is still going strong. Turns out my starter failed.

Easy Purchase but confusing pickup

Easy to purchase online but a bit convoluted pick up process. Email instructions said to get to Customer Service. CS sent me to Automotive, Automotive sent me to Parts. Finally it seemed someone knew what to do. Parts gave me a piece of paper to take back to Customer Service. Go back to CS and wait, no one else in line but employees having a grand old time just chatting.

Q: Does CT have a memory retainer to store the vehicle memory for the 2016 mdx while changing the battery?

4 Answers
  • A: If you don't have access to a scan tool or a memory saver, leaving the car sit for a minimum of 24 hours without any battery attached will also reset the car's computer memory of the previous battery (and any pre-existing codes it already has), allowing it to register the new battery without creating new codes. After having done this myself, the only thing I had to do was to set the clock and whatever radio settings I had. Note: Even though any pre-existing codes will be reset, unless you fix whatever caused them to begin with, they will return once you start driving the car again.

Q: Is a higher CCA rating safe to use? I'm considering this battery for my Audi A4 2008 2.0T. The original battery has cold cranking amps CCA of 640, whereas this battery is much higher. Is this battery still recommended (any danger of damaging the alternator)? Thanks

  • A: You can never have to many CCA (Cold Cranking Amp), especially when it's -40C. The battery is 12 Volts, and if ot fits that all that matters, a battery having more CCA just means it has more current in the battery to help turn over the engine. For over 40 years I have always bought the largest CCA battery that I can fit in the car, my old Taurus had a larger battery but way less CCA,, so I bought a size 34 battery with 1000 CCA instead of the old 520 CCA. That car was terrible below -25C, but once I got the new battery it always started great, even below-40C. This is one time the say "Go big, or go home" is really true.

Q: Does the battery come with the height adaptor because I have an is300 and it uses a Group 24 battery but Canadian tire says the group 34 one is okay to use.

  • A: No it does not.  You really should take measurements of your old battery, because the group 34 while an inch shorter is also a bit wider, and does not come with the same cca.  Definitely take measurements.

Q: The battery i bought comes with a 4 year free replacement and road side assistance. Does it need to be installed at a Canadian tire auto shop for the warranty to be valid

2 Answers
  • A: Not that I'm aware of. I've bought several batteries from CTC over the years and have never been told that they must be installed by a CTC auto shop. I've always installed them myself. I did have one battery that had to be replaced and while this was long ago, I had no problem obtaining the replacement. You might want to put any relevant paperwork and receipt someplace where you can find it if you ever need it.

Q: Where is this battery manufactured?

2 Answers
  • A: There are only three manufacturers of car batteries in North America. This battery is a corvus battery which is same make as what Jeep would supply you with. If you do not believe me take a picture of battery and go compare them they are exactly the same except for the stickers
