Q: Is this battery good to use on a trolling motor? My motor is a 55 lbs thrust.

    • A: I purchased one of these for my 55 Minkota and used it for about 2.5 years without problems but recently its capacity has been reduced and it no longer lasts a whole day of fishing. Even though I maintained it properly and always charged it to full capacity after every use my Minn Kota is now showing one less bar after a full charge when I used the battery check button.

Q: can you hook 2 12 volt deep cycle batteries in a series such as 2- 6 volt deep cycle batteries?

    • A: remember when hooking up two like batteries, regardless of their voltage/amperage, as long as they are the same you will get the best life from them by hooking the positive to one battery, the negative to another. When in series, this is a given, but in parallel, hook the two positives together, and the two negatives together, but draw the positive from one battery, the negative from the other. This allows an even usage across the plates and extends useful life.

Q: Is this an AGM batter? (see details) I've got a Motomaster Eliminator battery charger and I need to know what setting to use to charge this Nautilus (12V Regular, 12V AGM, or 12V GEL)?

    4 Answers
    • A: AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat Batteries) are similar to Gel batteries, however they can be charged faster. The reason your charger differentiates between the three is because a GEL battery requires slower charging than an AGM, and AGM require slower charging than standard 12V batteries. This is a standard deep cycle flooded battery and can be charged at 12V standard. Picking either of the other two will not damage this battery, it will just charge it slower.

Q: I fully charged this battery to 13.30 V. I then allowed it to discharge at room temp for 80 days. Discharge was fast at first. Over the last 18 days the charge has remained essentially unchanged at 12.35 V. What charge percentage does 12.35 V represent?

    • A: It should not lose 1 volt just sitting idle, 2.15 to 2.2 volts per cell is fully charged.
