Garden Tractor Battery, one thing to watch out for

Battery is fine and works as it should. Hopefully just be a “one-off” manufacturing error for the unit I purchased but the polarity is reversed. (Terminal marked positive on case is actually negative and vice versa). Fortunately my application was not for something with electronics or could have been damaging. If there are multiple similar reports a recall should be considered. There is no “Maybe” recommendation selection so I selected “No”

Lawn Tractor Battery

Your Review * I bought this battery thinking that it had a pro-rated warranty. I bought the last battery at CTC in 2022 and needed a replacement now since it was completely sulfated. Today's battery technology allows for batteries to last for more than 4 years. I would seriously consider buying any other battery than a Canadian Tire battery since they seem to last about 4 years maximum..

Very Good Value - Bolts need attention.

One of the oddities of these U1 batteries is that although they come with screws they are not a match for the battery. They ship with what looks like a 1/4" or M6 hex bolt and nut however the terimals on these batteries have a square hole for a carriage bolt so you only need a single wrench to use them. The listing confuses 230CCA with the current model which claims 285CCA. Otherwise the batteries are OK and the prices are OK and quite a good value.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are looking into your comments about the post hole vs supplied hardware. It's likely rooted in the fact that U1 batteries have the square hole while U1R batteries have the round hole. To clarify on the power rating, please note that the battery is 285 CA (Cranking Amps) which is an industry standard test done at 0°C and 230 CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) which is the same test but done at -18°C.

  • A: The height of my battery is 6-1/8 to top panel. The terminals add about 3/4”. Hope this helps.

Q: can this battery be used in a compact car?

  • A: I can't say for sure, but a small car will only require 150-200 amps to start so this battery should technically be able to do it. Once the car starts the battery is not needed. However if the battery ever gets drained slightly or you don't drive for a while, you may not have enough amps to start.

  • A: Amp hours are not shown. 432 cold cranking amps at 0 C It is a stating battery. I have used it on my 20HP 3cylinder Yanmar diesel generator but would not expect much life in that role. If you are looking for amp hours go for a deep cycle or Li- ion battery.

Q: can this be used with an inverter can this be used with an inverter for a small amount of overinte power whell camping i have a GENmate 2-stroke 800W Generator and it has a battery charger ide like this so i dont have to run the genarator all nite as it is kinda noisey
