This was easy to use and connect to downspout to divert water to a drain. The ends are rounded, but it was easy to tape onto a rectangular spout since it's flexible.

Excellent product - as advertised. I also wish there was a smaller 3" diameter option, but I guess "Mole-Pipe" thinks the 4" diameter serves most purposes. The concertina design allows the pipe to be collapsed again when not in use.

Q: Can this be buried under the top soil/ground. I am landscaping and a couple downspouts are in areas I would like to put gates and would like to drain water to the edge of property closer to gutters.

Q: Can you cut molepipe to size? If so, is there a technique required so that spiral ends connect?

  • A: Hi Christopher1967, MOLE-Pipe is a spiral pipe design that can be easily cut to your required size using a utility knife or a simple hacksaw will also do the job. To cut the pipe, measure all the way around from the end of the pipe to where it needs cutting – then cut directly down the line, NOT along the spiral.

Q: does it withstand Canadian winters? can it be used all year round?

  • A: Hi Matt, The MOLE-Pipe that retails for $12.99 expands to 8 feet in length. Canadian Tire also sell MOLE-Pipe that expands to 12' and 20 feet. You can also purchase Part # 1003FA-FTR, this is a female connector that connects 2 x pieces of MOLE-Pipe together to create a longer length. Q: I have issues with my present metal downspouts blowing off in high winds. How does this product withstand high winds....does it stay in place? If not what can you do to secure it from the wind?

  • A: To effectively secure the 8ft Mole-Pipe (63-2682) length to your downspout, you will need to either purchase a 2x3 Downspout adapter (CT 63-2687) or a 3x4 Downspout adapter (63-2690) depending on the metal pipe size you have. The spiral end of either fitting will screw inside the MOLE-Pipe length, and the other end (rectangular end) will connect onto your metal pipe. If by chance you find that the rectangular end is not a snug / tight fit onto your downspout, you can add screws (apply 1 screw on 2 sides) to further secure the downspout adapter to your metal pipe.

Q: What plastic is the mole-pipe made of (pvc, hdpe...)? Need to know if it leaches any chemicals into the water. Sadly, there is no information on the packaging relative to the material it is manufactured with.

  • A: The MOLE-PIPE pipe lengths are made of PE - Polyethylene material. It's designed to channel grey water either above or below ground.

Q: Is this 2 pieces - does it unscrew / come apart a couple inches from one end? It looks like it was cut or something and when I moved it the other day I noticed that it twists together where it was cut??? Not sure if this is normal or if we bought a broken one.

  • A: Yes the product is a two piece system. The MOLE-Pipe pipe lengths have been designed so that MOLE-Pipe fittings can counter clockwise thread (Twist & Seal) inside or on the outside (depending on the fitting type B or C) of any MOLE-Pipe length, thus allowing consumers to customize the pipe system to their requirement and/or needs. The fitting in question which is located at the end of each MOLE-Pipe is a male end adapter that is twisted onto the outside of the pipe. This is not broken or damaged, it’s just the design of the product.
