this is my 2nd run and burnt out the motor vac the rugs in the car the 1st one died the 2nd day started to smoking they got me a new one now. it is dun just smoking im not making it work hard.

Beast of a vacuum for price!

I just bought this today so I cannot comment on the longevity of this vacuum, but I am very impressed with it. Being a maximum product, I didn't expect the suction to be this good. And all the holders and spots to wrap the hose and cord work great. The noise is minimal for a vacuum this strong and its fairly lightweight, the wheels are even rubber so no scratching floors. I'm very happy with this vacuum so far, i will edit my comment down the road if I find any problems, But I highly recommend this.

assembly was fairly easy except cotter pin instructions a bit lacking in detail. Product works well in first couple weeks of use. additional components are helpful. Plan to use it a lot in garage and for some outdoor clean up work. So far we are quite pleased.

I've had this for 2 years now. It's hooked up to my tablesaw, and is used to clean the floor of my shop. I cannot believe how much suction this thing has. I let the bag get too full once, I didn't really notice as I had earplugs in. Anyways, it had packed the bag so full, that it was rock hard. I wound up making a huge mess getting the bag out. My fault, not the vacs. It's quiet too. What a great shop vacuum.

A: The Shop Vac Standard Cartridge Filter (0540008) is a compatible standard replacement filter. If you are working with fine dust we would recommend the Shop-Vac® Hepa-Gore Cleanstream Cartridge Filter (0540159).

Q: Is a dust bag necessary for all types of dry vacuuming? Or can sawdust, for example, be vacuumed directly into the cannister? The manual isn't clear as to whether or not the dust bag is necessary for all types of dry vacuuming.

A: A dust bag is not necessary for vacuuming debris or saw dust as long as there is a paper filter or cartridge filter installed over the motor cage that is on the bottom of the motor head so debris can be vacuumed directly into the canister. This model ships with a cartridge filter installed on the vac so you can collect dry debris without the need for a filter bag. We do suggest using a filter bag for the collection of drywall dust as this adds an extra level of filtration for fine dust collection. For wet use, the cartridge filter and dust bag would need to be removed and the foam sleeve would need to be installed prior to use. We also suggest the user empty the tank prior to changing over from dry collection to wet use.

Q: Does it make clanging noise when sucking up metal / rocks?

A: If you are picking up rocks and metal, these items will enter the Stainless Steel tank and be deflected to the bottom of the tank at the entry port to the tank. Depending on the size of the metal or rocks, you may hear noise when these object contact the stainless steel tank. If you use a collection bag for dry pick up, this noise will be reduced / eliminated.
