Fit n finish is as good as tool truck quality so far. A touch stiff from the closed point. Loosened up after a few days of use. It did not affect my use or readings.

I recently made an exchange. Every time I went to use this device the battery would be dead. It does have automatic shut off. It does stay off only when you tighten the locking screw. Now that I think of it, I might not have needed to exchange. Otherwise, it's a terrific product. So, when you put it away make sure you lock it closed. Otherwise, it'll turn on if it's jostled in which case you won't have any battery juice when you go to use it.

Q: For certain, does this caliper have auto-off feature? At this price point...it should but i've seen comment it doesnt and if it has auto-on, it should have auto-off....
