Strong base, cheap feeling power switch.

For the money, it'll do the job, for now. It's pretty light duty. The base is solidly built but the switch in the handle doesn't inspire confidence. It's very lightweight and makes various twangy noises when you depress it that sound like at some point something inside may get wonky or snap.
No, I do not recommend this product.

A: The saw, when in use, should be secured to improve safety. Generally, most people use a miter saw stand, e.g., 57-1464. However, it is not necessary to mount the saw if you are comfortable working at ground level.
